A friendly guide for Palm Coast visitors & newcomers

🚗 About 30 miles northwest of Palm Coast · ~45 min via SR-100 West

 Head about 30 minutes northwest of Palm Coast, out along State Road 100 through farmland and pine forest, and you'll arrive in Palatka — one of Northeast Florida's most authentic "Old Florida" river towns. Where Palm Coast is modern, coastal, and planned, Palatka is historic, slow-paced, and built along the wide, north-flowing St. Johns River. For a lot of Palm Coasters, it's the perfect change of scenery: a day trip with a completely different feel, still close to home.

 Palatka is in **Putnam County** (not Flagler), and it's known for its riverfront setting, its azaleas, and its festivals. Nature lovers come for **Ravine Gardens State Park** — famous for dramatic ravines, suspension bridges, and springtime azalea blooms — plus miles of the paved Palatka-to-St. Augustine Trail and classic kayaking on the Ocklawaha River. Downtown is walkable and full of character, with 25+ murals telling the town's story and **Angel's Dining Car**, Florida's oldest diner, still serving up classics.

 Time your visit around one of Palatka's beloved festivals and you'll see why so many Palm Coast residents make the drive: the **Florida Azalea Festival** in March, the big **Blue Crab Festival** over Memorial Day weekend, and the small-town **Bostwick Blueberry Festival** in spring. Whether you're planning a day trip or thinking about a slower pace of life, Palatka is quiet, scenic, and full of heart.
