The Hands That Raised Us — A Mother’s Day Tribute

Look at a mother’s hands.
Really look.
In those hands are stories no book has written, sacrifices no one saw, and strength that quietly shaped the lives around her. I often tell people: Look at a mother's hands and think of what she has done with those hands in your lifetime.
Those hands have soothed fevers and wiped away tears. They’ve packed lunches, tied shoes, held you when you felt small, and applauded when you stood tall. They’ve carried groceries, hopes, and sometimes the weight of the world — without complaint.
In Palm Coast, those same hands have started businesses, braided hair before school, worked long shifts, planted community gardens, written heartfelt notes, and waved proudly from the sidelines. They’ve guided families and helped build this town — one loving act at a time.
Motherhood isn’t just a title. It’s a lifetime of giving — of showing up, even when tired. Whether she is your birth mother, a stepmother, an adoptive mom, a grandmother, or a woman who stepped into your life and filled that role — every act of care left a lasting imprint.
And today, as we honor mothers everywhere, let us also take a quiet moment of remembrance for the mothers who are no longer with us.
Though they may no longer walk beside us, their love never left. It echoes in our laughter, lives in our traditions, and holds strong in the values they passed down. Their hands may be still, but their impact moves through us with every breath.
So this Mother’s Day, celebrate — laugh, hug, call. And if your mother is no longer here, take a quiet moment to reflect. Think of her hands — all they did, all they held, and all the love they gave.
Thank you, Mom. For everything.
Happy Mother’s Day, from all of us at PalmCoastLocal.com.
